There are a few movies that remain in your heart for a really long time, today we will talk about one such movie which is available on ZEE5. The first time I saw the trailer of this movie, I instantly knew that it would be an absolute must to watch. The lead character never fails his audience and which is why we eagerly wait for his movies.
First of all, I am a huge fan of Raj Kumar Rao, secondly, for me, Omerta definitely ranks among the top 3 best performances by Rajkummar Rao. I have loved his acting in Bareilly Ki Barfi, Aligarh, Trapped, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Judgemental where he was paired with Kangana Ranaut.
I was intrigued about the title of the movie so did a little google search and found that this title of the film refers to the Italian term for a criminal code of honor that encompasses absolute non-cooperation with legal authorities, interesting, isn’t it?
This is an edge of the seat thriller and watched it the day it was released on ZEE5. Absolutely brilliant performances by the entire cast. This movie is based on terrorist Omar Saeed Sheikh’s life. It will be a treat for good cinema lovers to see this dark-themed terror movie.
A well-educated, London based bachelor Omar sheikh played by Rajkumar Rao, who goes far beyond into “jihad” to do retribution for ill-treatment of Muslims happening around the world. The story is woven around some of the most horrific terror attacks, including the 9/11 attack and the beheading of journalist Daniel Pearl.
This film opens up the issue of brainwashing, terrorism, jihad, revenge, however, leaves us with a story without any conclusion, which is something new that director Hansal Mehta tried to do. Editing is up to the mark, a commendable job by cinematographer as well. The movie is shot in different locations like old Delhi, Kashmir, and London as well. The background score is well maintained and goes pretty well along with the theme of this movie.
The movie had received rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival as well. To be honest, I haven’t watched many movies made on such topics that are executed so perfectly.
